ATTENTION ALL URC CUSTOMERS
It has been brought to our attention that some of the IR Emitters that we supply with URC Base Stations (including the MRF-260, MRF-350 and MSC-400 and the MRX-1, MRX-10) are defective. The emitter diode itself functions properly but the surrounding case (bud) is opaque in the area that should allow IR light to pass through.
IF THE IR IS NOT FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY AND YOU SUSPECT THE EMITTER please follow one of these three work-arounds.
A. If possible, replace the new IR Emitter with an older, leftover emitter from a previous job.
B. URC will replace all defective emitters as soon as humanly possible. Please contact us at the phone number or e-mail address below.
C. Repair the emitter yourself by following these directions:
1. Carefully disassemble the emitter by separating it into two halves along the seam.

2. Remove the clear glass emitter diode (still connected to the two power leads).

3. Tape the emitter diode over the IR Receiver/Input on the component (where the emitter would normally go) using black plastic electrician’s tape. Use two pieces to securely attach the diode.

4. This configuration should function properly.
PLEASE NOTE THAT IT IS POSSIBLE TO TEST THE EMITTERS if you are uncertain whether or not they work. To test an emitter, follow these steps.
1. Remove the release paper from the adhesive side.
2. Holding the emitter with the adhesive (flat) side up, flash the emitter.
3. If the emitter glows red, it is working correctly. No light means the case is opaque and must be removed.

THIRD-PARTY EMITTERS WILL WORK provided that the connecting pin is 3.5mm.
